Hampta Pass Trek

The Hampta Pass Trek is one of the most scenic and diverse trekking experiences in the Indian Himalayas. Covering approximately 30–35 km, this trek offers a perfect blend of adventure, natural beauty, and ever-changing landscapes.

From dense alpine forests and lush green meadows to river crossings, snowfields, and dramatic mountain terrain, the Hampta Pass Trek showcases a wide variety of landscapes within a short distance. At an altitude of around 14,100 ft, the pass offers breathtaking panoramic views of towering Himalayan peaks and vast valleys.

One of the most unique highlights of the Hampta Pass Trek is the striking transition in scenery — from the green valleys of Kullu to the barren, cold desert landscapes of Spiti. This contrast makes it one of the most visually rewarding treks in Himachal Pradesh.

The trek is considered easy to moderate in difficulty, making it suitable for beginners as well as experienced trekkers looking for a short yet thrilling Himalayan adventure.

During the journey, trekkers can witness iconic peaks such as Deo Tibba, Indrasan, and Hanuman Tibba, along with pristine natural surroundings that make every step memorable.

The Hampta Pass Trek is an ideal choice for those seeking a complete Himalayan experience with stunning views, diverse terrain, and an unforgettable trekking journey.

At high altitude as the air gets thinner oxygen becomes less abundant. The percentage saturation of hemoglobin with oxygen determines the content of oxygen in our blood. After the human body reaches around 2,100 m (7,000 feet) above sea level, the level of  oxygen in our hemoglobin begins to plummet. However, the human body has both short-term and long-term adaptations to altitude that allow it to partially compensate for the lack of oxygen. The Hampta Pass Trek is an easy trek suitable for first time trekker with basic fitness

"I recently completed the Hampta Pass Trek, and I must say it’s one of the most visually stunning treks I’ve ever done. The transition from lush green valleys to barren mountains happens so suddenly that it almost feels unreal. The trek was moderately challenging, especially near the pass, but the views made every step worth it."
